5. Salt Dough Ornaments

Salt dough is a simple mixture that’s great for making lasting crafts like ornaments, figurines, or handprint keepsakes. This activity can be fun for all ages and makes for great gifts too!

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup of flour
  • 1/2 cup of salt
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • Rolling pin
  • Cookie cutters
  • Paint and markers

How to Do It:

  1. Mix the flour, salt, and water to make dough.
  2. Roll the dough out and use cookie cutters to make shapes (stars, hearts, etc.).
  3. Use a straw to make a hole at the top of the shape (for hanging).
  4. Bake the shapes in the oven at 250°F (120°C) for 2 hours or until hardened.
  5. Once cool, paint and decorate your salt dough ornaments!
